Dental Implants

Dental implants are artificial structures that a dental surgeon inserts into the jawbone, it consists of an artificial root made of titanium that is used to support an artificial tooth or teeth. A person may require implants if they have lost one or more teeth.

Are you a good candidate to receive Dental Implants ?

1)If you have single or multiple teeth missing :

Missing teeth may occur because of injury to dental tissue, smoking, or poor oral hygiene. It is higher with diseases like Diabetes, Asthma, or Rheumatoid Arthritis. Missing teeth leave gaps in the mouth and make people more self-conscious of their smiles. Dental implants provide a better solution than other replacement options. They mimic natural teeth and also support jaw bone health.

2)Grossly decayed tooth which can not  be saved :
Decayed or infected teeth that are beyond saving and need extraction may require dental implants. They have benefits of immediate replacement with dental implants, if case permits.

3)Congenital missing tooth (tooth missing since birth) :
In certain systemic conditions, one or multiple teeth are missing since birth and do not erupt ever. Dental Implants may be recommended by us after eruption of all permanent teeth.

4)Mobile teeth that has to be extracted. ( loose teeth ) :
Teeth loosen or fall out early because of periodontitis in certain patients, which may arise due to ageing or many systemic diseases such as Diabetes or Ischemic heart disease.

Many people still experience frustration when their dentures become loose, slip, and rub against the gums. If you’ve tried replacements or sticky adhesives for more stability and still worry about your dentures falling out when you talk or eat, then dental implants are the ideal solution to fix your dentures.

6)Natural appearance of a missing tooth :
Dental implants are best means to get natural tooth like emergence profile as compared to any alternate options.

THE PROCESS

Dentist at Roots dental care will carefully assess your mouth and jaw to determine if dental implants are a good choice for you. This preliminary assessment will include taking x-rays of your jaw and teeth. If you qualifies to be a good candidate we will then schedule your surgery.

Your surgery will likely take place in two parts over the course of two separate appointments. During the first portion of your surgery your dentist will implant the titanium root into your jawbone, beneath your gum line, and then stitch the gum tissue back into place.

As the gum tissue heals, the titanium root will bond to your jawbone and attach to your gum, creating a firm anchor for the artificial tooth. This healing process can take up to several months. However, in some cases, your dentist may be able to perform the whole procedure in one single stage.

Once doctors at Roots Dental care confirms osseointegration of implant into the bone, second part of your surgery commences. During this phase, we will attach an abutment to your titanium root. Once the abutment is in place, we attach your artificial tooth onto the abutment which is artificial post on implant. We ensure one or more follow up visits to check if your implant tooth is correctly settling in the oral cavity. If we are replacing several or all of your teeth we use your dental implants to support a fixed bridge.
